Overview of the course – week by week
Week 1 – Clarifying your Values
Values are your heart’s deepest desires for how you want to behave; how you want to treat yourself, others and the world around you. Values are especially useful when looking for guidance from within and are finding motivation for action difficult.
Week 2 – Goal Setting
Now you know your values, you can set some values-based goals which are not only realistic, but you will be motivated, inspired and actually want to achieve them!
Week 3 – Techniques to Handle Difficult Thoughts and Feelings
Generally this is the week that difficult thoughts and feelings rise and get in the way of you taking steps to achieve those goals. This is an important week as you will begin to learn skills that you can start to use straight away to help manage the unhelpful thoughts and continue to take action towards living the life you want.
Week 4 – Introduction to Mindfulness
Being more present and aware is also a great skill towards managing unhelpful thoughts. I will be imparting ways to being mindful into your daily life without lengthy meditations, which perhaps you may associate with the practice of mindfulness. There is not only one way to practice mindfulness!
Week 5 – Developing Self-compassion
This week is all about learning to respond differently to our inner critic and learning how to be a good friend to yourself. It’s amazing what a difference this can make.
Week 6 – How Do I Take Care Of Myself Now?
In our final week I take you through some psychoeducation around stress and how our brains work. We will also recap on the course and delve into one of the topics we’ve covered in the course in more depth (choice from the group as to which one).
The course will take place online over 6 consecutive weeks, each session will be 1 hour. All sessions will be recorded so you can catch up if you miss one.
Every Wednesday evening from 7-8pm starting on March 6th for 6 consecutive weeks (online via zoom).
